Shoals Area Crappie kicked off the season today on Wheeler lake and what a day it was. We had a good week of warm weather which warmed the water up some but after high winds and rain that came Thursday night left Wheeler Lake muddy and rising all day today. The lake level started at 552.69 this morning and by 2pm it was 552.98 and that made tough fishing conditions. But one good thing all the teams brought fish to the scales and this is how it all went down.

1st place went to team Keil and Dodd with a 7 fish limit that weighed in at 10.54 and they also took big fish of the day that weighed in at 2.10. They was fishing upriver from Ingalls harbor spider rigging road runners with a lakefork live baby shad using 16' BnM crappie poles with 6# Vicious line. They was working some stump rows  8-12 foot of water. Best color today was anything dark.

2nd place went to Bill and Bohdan Thomas weighing in at 6.32. They told me they was also upriver from Ingalls in 8 to 10 foot of water fishing stump rows with road runners and lake fork tackle. As always Bohdan said he caught the biggest and most of the fish.

3rd place went to Scott and Roger echols weighing in at 6.09. Thay also said they was upriver from Ingalls In 8 to 10 foot of water fishing stump rows using crazy angler slab bandits. Scott and Roger make the Hi-tek rod holders along with other accessories for your crappie needs and my opinion is they are the best rod holders you can put on your boat check them out at

We also had a cash drawing of $25.00 Donated by Tennessee Valley Marine witch went to New Member David Moreau.

We welcome our new members David Moreau,James McAdams and Eddie Thomas.  We look forward to fishing with you guys

And a big thank you to all our sponsors BnM, Road Runner, Vicious Line, Tennesse Valley Marine, Townsend Bait and Tackle, and Lakefork Tackle
