Wheeler 2-15-17

Wheeler was wild and windy this tournament

Lake Level :  551.34

Water Temps : 59 - 61

Wind :  WNW 18-23 mph

Teams woke up to a 20 degree drop in temperature from previous day and a rather strong wind - front came through late Friday and made conditions tough.  At launch time winds were already at 14 and gusting to 20 from the west which had the river rolling and it never let up.

Some teams were not able to fish areas they had previously found good fish in but others made the adjustments and still managed some good fish today.  A couple of teams ended up in the far end of creeks while some toughed out the flats and fought the wind all day long.

The good news is everyone made it safely back to weigh in and all the teams had fish to weigh.

Results were:

1st Place -  Keith and Darrell  with 6.19 lbs they also had big fish today with     1.84 lb slab.  The team was using 14' BnM Crappie Poles lines with 6# Vicious Hi-Vis line rigged with 1/16oz Road Runner head and Lake Fork Live Baby Shad. Fishing under corks in 4-8 foot of water.

2nd Place went to Jon Cammon with 5.97 lbs, he was also using BnM Crappie Poles in 10-12 foot of water.

3rd Place ....you guessed it - Joe Lambert and his team partner Chuck Hellums with 5.88 lbs.   They were also pushing corks in 4-8 foot of water and appeared to be having way too much fun:)   We welcome Chuck to the club and look forward to him fishing with us this year.

Great job on another safe tournament and lots of fun on and off the water

We can't thank our sponsors  enough for all their support.  Thank You to BnM Crappie Poles, Tennessee Valley Marine, Vicious Fishing, Lake Fork Tackle, Slider Crappie Jigs and Road Runner for your love and support of this great sport.

The sport lost a great man and ambassador of the crappie world a few weeks ago and anyone that had the opportunity to meet and fish with him knows that he just flat-out loved to fish and would listen to what the fishermen needed as far as baits.   TJ Stallings of Blakemore Road Runner will be missed greatly by all who knew him.  We'll leave with TJ's favorite saying.....  "Tightlines".
